Short answer: clothes! Longer answer: We don't have a dress code here at City Church Tauranga so you are welcome to turn up to a Sunday service wearing jandals, stubbies and a singlet or in a three piece suit. It's up to you. Most people that come to church dress pretty casually so just wear what you feel comfortable in and you'll be fine. You're not going to look out of place.
Don’t worry! Every Sunday there are plenty of people in the same boat who also don’t know anyone. As you come in you’ll be greeted by a friendly hosts who will give you one of our 2 month calendars. It’s more than likely that one of our regulars will spot you as a new person and walk on up and start a conversation. If that doesn’t happen straight away, just grab a seat and relax. Have a read through our calendar to see what’s coming up in the life of the church. Half way through the service we always have a ‘hello break’ so you’ll get a chance to chat to some of the people sitting around you. After the service we have a visitors lounge, it’s just on the left as you go out. Definitely pop in and say hello and have a cup of tea and some cake – there will be lots of 1st timers like you, as well as friendly City Churchers and some of our pastors. They will be able to answer any questions you have and point you in the right direction if you’re keen to find out more about church.
During our morning service we have a kids program for children of all ages running. You can register your children for this before the service starts and find our exactly how everything runs. Just ask.
In the evening we have a creche opperating for children under 5 but encourage children older than this to sit with their parents during the service. There are activity packs available at the information desk for children to work on during the sermon.
Yes. As well as our Sunday programs for kids we also have two groups running midweek. We have Mainly Music (music & movement for pre-schoolers) weekly at the church on Tuesdays. This runs from 9.30 - 10.30am and is $3 per family. We also have two playgroups that operate fortnightly. These are relaxed times for mums to get together over a cuppa while the kids play. For more details on these contact the church office.
Of course. There are many available and great looking people that attend City Church so come along and spot the talent! We have a match making service available so you can sign up at the Info Desk and we will do our best! Make sure as well you get involved in one of our Life Groups and sign up to serve in a team, then you can see for yourself how a potential spouse would go at putting out the rubbish and being friendly first thing in the morning.
